Blood diamonds may have found its way into India

MUMBAI: An Indian diamond merchant and the head of a premier trade body have ruled out the possibility of blood diamonds from Zimbabwe’s Marange fields being imported into India. Diamonds that are used by rebel movements to finance wars against legitimate governments are known as blood, or conflict diamonds.

Their admission came amid fears raised by Pooja Kotwani, India head of Rapaport, the world’s primary source of polished diamond prices and market information, of the possibility of blood diamonds from Marange having found their way into India, the world’s largest cutting and polishing centre of rough diamonds.

There is a news article that state that the blood diamond problem may have spread to India, which would be terrible. If the problem is spreading to other countries it will be harder to stop in the future. Hopefully this isn’t true, but if it is a solution to end the battle over these diamonds would have to be come up with as soon as possible.

This video is a bit over the top, but there has to be at least some truth to the scene. If there is that much violence over these diamonds, a solution needs to be made and put into action so innocent lives are not wasted.

Stopping Blood Diamonds

This is a photo of two African men, most likely working to find blood diamonds. This shows that the people who are working to find the diamonds have little money and very small options for other job, or may even be working against their will. If something is done these men will no longer be forced to work long days for little or no pay.

“Little is known of Sierra Leone and how it connects to the diamonds we own.” Kanye West

What this quote is saying is that blood diamonds aren’t a widely known problem, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to help fix it. I believe that the United States should no longer accept these diamonds, and other countries shouldn’t as well. The bloodshed over these diamonds needs to be stopped at any costs.

“Little is know…

This is a video of the trailer for the movie Blood Diamond, which shows the battle for a simple diamond. The is a great example of the trouble people go through to get money, or the great lengths they will go through to get these diamonds. Even though they are worth so much money, there shouldn’t be such a great conflict over them.

Blood Diamond

Everybody is trying to help others learn about the conflict in places like Sierra Leone, over these “Blood Diamonds”. With more people knowing about this conflict, the problem could be solved with help from the United States.

“Diamonds are forever
They won’t leave in the night
I’ve no fear that they might
Desert me”
-Kanye West

Something needs to be done about conflict diamonds. So much so that very influential stars are voicing thier own opinions. If everybody wants to put an end over these conflict, it will hopefully be easy to end forever.

Conflict Diamond

There are you are.
Glittering like a star.
Symbolic of purity,
radiating surety,
and beautiful proof
that something so precious
can be born from upset.
You shimmer elegantly
as I wonder how something
so raw and innocent
can be so special.
You may not look much,
but your value is incomparable.
You are worth a million lifetimes,
and should occupy God’s own vault.
You will one day, of that I’m sure.
But for now, you’re my sparkling diamond,
so stunning, honest and pure

This poem has a very deep meaning towards diamonds. What the poem is saying is that even though diamonds look beautiful, they cause many others harm and distress. Dan Brown was able to show the conflict over diamonds between people by saying “you are worth a million lifetimes.” This poem shows how much of a problem this truely is.
